Fire tests the ‘gold!’ On 13th October, 2018 the Jaycees auditorium packed with spectators broke the illusion of ‘self.’ Our hearts were full, like the tidal wave that sweeps one away in a rush of excitement. Success was celebrated in an emphatic manner. A big shout out to our sports team! Headed by Lieutenant Vikas Kotnala our team brought JPS glory, painting colours of success vibrant and lush. The bars of music created an atmosphere ‘quivering’ alive with excitement. With the school winning the finale ‘Under 19 Boys’ Karan Singh, Shubham Singh Bisht and Vishesh Gambhir gave us the reason to bask in the after-glow of splendour. They claimed the gold. The Jaycees family was in perfect harmony with the loveliness generated as hosts.
In this championship we created space for ‘shared dignity’ while keeping safe our individual respectability. The experience was akin to priming a pump. It was a warm up exercise in giving the participating schools their due ‘care and rights’ to enable them to show their full potential. Our commitment was ruled by faith. Our hospitality being an expression of purpose gave us lessons in communication and cooperation. Emotions were deeply stirred as each of us felt an unconditional sense of belonging to the sporting event. The energy was expansive and free. Goodness is its own reward. Our people were adaptive, exhibiting their happy go lucky demeanour; truly believing that everything will work out for the best in the end.

The Championship spoke lengths of the dynamic leadership of Jaycees. Like willow trees standing imperial in the vegetation, protecting the river banks! No wonder then that Principal JPS Mr. Yashpal Sharma himself stood like a tree of great strength leading his team. Beautifully intricate art work badges were put on stage dignitaries. The stage presence of the anchors Ms. Urvashi Bhatt, Ms. Himanshi Garg, Mr. Karamjeet, Ms. Manpreet Chawla and Ms. Surbhi Arora was confidence personified, lively, pleasing and ‘emotion inspired.’ A blend of conventional energy and infectious excitement! The performing artists rendered ‘Hanuman Chalisa,’ Kumaoni folk dance, Sufi dance recital and a Rajasthani ‘lore’ song. The CBSE sports flag was wrapped up and taken away with much respect in the winding up ceremony by the NCC Cadets.
This Champonship was like passing a test. Could we take the evolutionary process? Did we partake of life’s longing for itself? Could we hear the tapping of our own feet telling us we were headed in the right direction? These are questions I leave to you.
I can say with hundred percent certainty that this enterprise was sustained by pride. Wise and humble, our service providers stood out in their inspiring character. Each one of us nurtured and supported the visiting teams of 151 schools. Our mind was working top speed and ahead of itself. Interactions were sensitive and the approach was ‘giving.’ We thrive in group settings. Our strength lies in our numbers.
I as Chief Patron of the event, acknowledge the absolute efforts of the Host, the Reception Committee, the Transport Committee, the Officials in Charge, the Documentation and Certificate Committee, the Accounting and Finance Committee, the Boarding and Lodging Committee, the Committee for Equipment and Court Management, those at the Stadium, the Support Staff, Result Collectors from Referee to chief referee, those shutterbugs of photography and videography, the Opening /Closing and Culture/ Recreation Committee, the Purchase Committee, the Medical Committee, the campaigners of media, publicity, flex and banner, the Anchoring/ Announcement Committee, the Water Committee, the Decoration Committee, the helping hands at Sound System Arrangement and Line Judge Management.
